New Design Trend: “White is the new major color in decor!”
Many say white is calming. Decorators say this palest of colors is rapidly replacing the neutrals that dominated high-fashion homes in recent years.
While white would seem to be a non-choice, look more closely. Check out the new, inspirational white rooms. You won’t see any timidity here… but a brave, mono-colored contemporary statement that requires a complete leap of faith.
White used to just mean walls. Now it’s floors, ceilings, accessories and furniture.
To achieve the look, use creams for your furniture, since the white walls give the furniture clarity. Next layer textured rugs and cushions to bring order to the room. Concrete floors painted in white will also complete the look beautifully.
Not feeling quite this bold? Then mix and match your wood tone furniture with the meringue-hued whites. Visually, this will give you a much needed rest from the complex colored homes of yesteryear.
